Women's Health Physiotherapy

INTRODUCTION

Starting your career in women's health physiotherapy?

That's so exciting!!

However, we also understand that if you are only just starting out it can also be a little daunting working out how to structure your learning in a way that ensures you have all the knowledge and skills necessary to work in this amazing, challenging, yet very rewarding field.

WHAT YOU FIRST NEED TO KNOW.....

In order to help physiotherapists tailor their learning to what is most relevant to their own clinical practice, training in "Women's Health Physiotherapy" is divided into two streams:

  • Women's Pelvic Health  covering bladder, bowel and sexual dysfunction

  • Women's Life Stages     covering puberty, pregnancy, birth, postpartum & peri/postmenopausal health.

COURSE PROGRESSION

Both streams build across three levels, with Level 1 being 'Introductory' and Level 3 being 'Advanced'.

Physiotherapists can choose to progress from Level 1 to Level 3 in Women's Pelvic Health (WPH) only, in Women's Life Stages (WLS) only, or by completing both streams concurrently (L1 in both WPH and WLS before progressing to L2 in both WPH and WLS and then finally L3 in both WPH and WLS).
